What is Inner Healing?

Inner Healing is changing inner heart motives and attitudes, instead of changing outer appearances. Once the inner heart is healed, the outward fruit will become visible.

Many Christians try to live the victorious, abundant life that God has for us, but instead experience frustration, disillusionment and condemnation. They struggle with fruits of the flesh as described in Romans 1:29-31, while the fruit of the spirit as described in Galatians 5:22-23, is sparse and inconsistent in their lives. Why, after receiving the free gift of salvation, should so many fall short of experiencing joy and freedom in Christ? They fail to understand sanctification as a process, which begins at salvation. And they strive to change surface behaviors, rather than allowing the power of Jesus Christ to renew their minds and spirits.

Our outlooks, attitudes and expectations are shaped by our experiences and reactions to life in early childhood. Many Christians have tried to leave the past behind by ignoring it rather than digging deep and laying the foundation on the rock (Luke 6:48). In order to heal past hurts, guilt and unforgiveness, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the hidden areas of our hearts and to minister cleansing.

Core Areas

There are four problem areas that all of us deal with on a spiritual basis. This form of prayer therapy specifically recognizes the severe degree and interdependence that each problem impacts both ourlives and impacts the other key areas. This integrated approach to healing developed by the Kylstra’s-  Restoring The Foundations, provides all that we need to bring ministry to the four problem areas, so that we may be healed and free of them.  They are:

*Sins of the Fathers and the Resulting Curses (SOFC): This problem is rooted in the 2nd commandment (Ex 20:3-6), where God visits "the iniquities of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generations." God requires us to confess our ancestor's sin as well as our own (Lev 26:40). We help you focus on the confession of sin (I Jn 1:9) and appropriation of Christ's finished work on the Cross to break curses (Gal 3:13) and recover "legal ground" from the enemy (Col 2:14).

*Ungodly Beliefs (UGB): All of us inherit UGBs from our ancestors (i.e., parents, grandparents), as well as forming them from life's circumstances. These Ungodly Beliefs need to be changed into Godly Beliefs (GB). This can be accomplished through a procedure of repentance and of renewing our mind (Rom 12:2).

    * Soul/Spirit Hurts (SSH): Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted (Lk 4:18). As we "Wait upon the Lord" with "Listening Prayer," He heals the hurts of our soul and spirit. He shows us what He wants to heal, and then, after we take care of necessary forgiveness and releasing, He heals what He has shown.

*Demonic Oppression (DO): After we have "co-labored with Christ" to bring freedom and healing to the first three ministry areas in our lives, the various demonic strongholds oppressing us

Traumas

We all have experienced trauma in our lifetimes.  One fact you should know about trauma is that time does not erase the pain. Second, talking about and understanding trauma does not bring relief.  Psychotherapy often brings understanding without significant healing of one's life. In the presence of God a skilled therapist who understands the process of listening prayer therapy can guide you to emotional freedom - significant healing of core issues at the heart level, where we store life’s experiential-knowledge data base.

Advanced Inner Healing

It is in the collective techniques developed by ministry disciplines like “Inner Healing, Deliverance, and Theophostics” – otherwise known as Advanced Inner Healing, that God is able to move so effectively.

Theophostic

The basic principles of TheoPhostic prayer ministry are:

    *Gather evidence of historical pain.

*If I try to resolve my present conflict without finding healing for my past wounds (memories with embedded lies), I may only find temporary relief. However, if I heal my past, I can redeem my present.

*The negative emotions I currently feel are often echoes of the past, an open window into the wounds of my life.

    * To look through the open window I must let go of the present situation, and release it from being the primary source of my pain and be willing to seek out and identify my true source of emotional pain.

*If I choose to look through the window I can confront my wound, and feel its pain again. However, if I refuse to feel, I cannot heal. The emotions must be felt in order to rightly identify the lies I believe that are at their source. The emotions I feel will match the lies I believe.

    * The pain I feel is not coming from the event, but from the misinterpretation (lie) which was given the event.

*A lie which is believed will produce the same consequences as if it were true.

*To be free of the lie requires that I take the lie "captive," rather than reject or denounce it.

    * It is in this painful and helpless state through prayer that I am able to receive a healing Word from God. When the way is made clear for me to receive, God will speak His healing Word into my darkness and then I will be free at last.

*Once the Holy Spirit gives truth, I will be able to walk in victory.
